Have you ever heard of or used SMART goals before? I don’t know about you, but I could never fully buy into them. Something about them didn’t sit right with me so I developed my own strategy for goal setting called PEACEful Goals with the focus of operating from peace to plan and achieve goals.
I developed PEACEful goals while I was teaching to help me refocus and get back to my peace instead of overwhelm. If you’ve ever met or been a teacher you understand how crazy and hectic things get. Sometimes we lose our core in the middle of it.
PEACEful goals are a mix between backward planning and general goal setting. But the acronym PEACE is here to help us remember the strategy. It stands for:
E: End in Mind
A: Action Steps
The PEACEful Goal Setting Strategy attaches a strong why to our goals to make them more meaningful.
Here is a breakdown of each step of PEACEful Goals:
P – Purpose
This is your why, it is the foundation of your goal. It is the reason you are pursuing this goal.
E – End in mind
This is your what. What is your goal? Write it out and tie it into your why.
A – Action Steps
This is your how. How are you going to accomplish this goal? Brain dump all of the steps needed to accomplish this goal.
C – Check-Ins
This is your when. This is when we take our action steps and put a timeline on them. Don’t worry – this timeline is made to fit YOU. It is a loose timeline that changes as we change.
E – Execute
This is your accountability. This is when you actually go out and do the dang thing.
This strategy is used to mold and grow with us as our life grows and changes. Interested in trying it out yourself? Grab your PEACEful Goal Setting Strategy by clicking the button below.
