We’re getting to that time of year when everyone starts to reflect on the previous 12 months and makes statements about what they want to change for the upcoming 12 months. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t been great at upholding the statements and goals that I want to set for the new year. PEACEful Goals is a strategy I’ve started using to make a change in my mindset and how I attack my goals.
All I have are excuses for why I didn’t stick to my goals I wanted for 2023. Life happens for everyone and goals have to be shifted or adjusted. For me- I just didn’t do them. I didn’t hold myself accountable to make them happen. And if you’re anything like me, you didn’t either. And that’s okay.
The first step is acknowledging that we didn’t meet those goals and to be okay with it. Just because we didn’t make those goals happen, doesn’t mean we failed. It simply just means we’re human. We always have another day to make things happen.
Why We don’t stick to our goals
Most of the time when set our intentions for the new year we don’t set any time limits on them or really map out how we are going to achieve the goal. We just have a long list of things to do and if you’re like me, you see the list and get overwhelmed and then don’t do anything.
Never-ending list = nothing happening
List with no due date = nothing happening
For years I wasn’t getting anywhere with my goals. Then I decided I needed to change it. I took time to invest in myself and to really get to know how I work best to get things done. And so I created my PEACEful Goal Setting Strategy.
I’m big on living a peaceful life. Life is too short to live life feeling like everything is out of control. When I can focus on things that bring me peace, I’m more likely to continue. From there, I really dug into goal setting and the best strategies. I’ve used SMART goals before but they always seemed too bland for me. PEACEful goals take strategies from great strategies but with a peaceful twist.
PEACEful Goals: What do they mean?
P- purpose – your why. Without your why to do something, it won’t happen.
E- end in mind – your where. This is your vision for your life. Where is this goal going to take you?
A- action steps – your how. I’m talking about breaking down your whole goal into day-by-day, week-by-week steps.
C- check-ins – your when. Schedule time to meet with yourself weekly or monthly to reassess how you’re doing and adjust as necessary.
E- execute – This is you doing the dang thing and making it happen. Because you deserve it.
So I’m going to share my PEACEful goals for the new year and how I’m going to make them happen.
My 2024 PEACEful Goals
Word of the Year: Consistent & Authentic
Quarter 1 Goals: January-March
Personal: I am decluttering my house because I feel better when everything has a specific place. On one of my 2 days off, I will be decluttering one area of the house until the house is clutter-free.
Professional: I am posting consistently on the blog and the gram (2 times on the blog and 3-4 times a week on the gram) because I’m growing my community of ladies needing a goal-setting approach that fuels their peace.
Quarter 2 Goals: April-June
Personal: I am focusing on wedding planning- getting into all of the tiny details and decorations.
Professional: I am creating a Goal Setting E-book or Planner to support myself as well as my community. April will be the bones work, May the promotion, and June the launch.
Quarter 3 Goals: July-September
Personal: Get Married 👰♀️ & maybe honeymoon
Professional: I am staying consistent in my postings and promotions because my personal life will have a lot happening- in the best way.
Quarter 4 Goals: October-December
Not gonna lie- I don’t have a focus for Q4 yet. But we don’t always have to have every little thing figured out a year in advance. So instead of putting a “meh” goal on here for the purpose of filling it out, I’m leaving it blank. October-December are generally busier times for most people so it is okay to have a smaller goal for that time.
Professional: I am launching a Vision Board Course because it is a great intro to goal setting while the community is getting focused on setting new goals. October will be the creation, November the launch, and December the promotion for it.
Here’s my 2024 Vision Board
Even if you don’t have a full year of goals planned out, you can still do a vision board for the first three months of the year and set goals that way. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to list out 365 days worth of goals but the first quarter or the first month won’t be as overwhelming.
If you’re interested in creating your own vision board you can grab my free vision board workbook.
Or if you want to dive right into goalsetting you can grab my goal-setting freebie OR jump right into the PEACEful Goal Setting Course.
